Former police juror

OPELOUSAS – Services will be Friday for former police juror Robert “Bobby” Nicholson, Sr. He died Nov. 27 at age 84.

Nicholson, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a police juror for 12 years. He was a cattleman, farmer and part-owner of a lumber yard.He was a founder of the LA/TX Bi-State Fishing Rodeo.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Sibille.

Shipping executive

METAIRIE – Services will be Wednesday for shipping company executive Charles Mentz, Jr. He died Nov. 25.

He was former vice president of U.S. Gulf operations for Strachan Shipping Co. and ower of Mentz Maritime Agency.

Mentz was on the board of Christian Brothers Foundation for almost 40 years and active in a number of other organizations.

Survivors include his wife Mary, two sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Lake Lawn.
