According to Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards, cyber-crime detectives were contacted by detectives from the Nottinghamshire Police Department in England indicating that an 11- year-old English girl had been contacted by an Internet predator believed to be in Tangipahoa Parish.
The subsequent investigation lead detectives to the home of Anthony Latino, Jr., 62176 Link Morse Road.
On Thursday detectives executed a search warrant at the Latino residence which authorized deputies to look for child pornography and evidence of extortion.
However, once detectives entered the residence they found much more than was expected. Detectives discovered a marijuana cultivation operation in the Latino residence.
Detectives seized approximately 123 individual marijuana plants at various stages of growth. Specially trained narcotics detectives were dispatched to the scene to properly remove the clandestine marijuana cultivation operation.
Anthony J. Latino, Jr. was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on charges including Cultivating Marijuana.
Detectives also seized various computers and electronic equipment which will be forensically examined at a later date.
