Michael James Dupont, a lifelong resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, in Lafayette.
Michael enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking his sons hunting and fishing, while instilling the same hard working values that he demonstrated in his own life. Michael worked for Oceaneering for many years as well as heading up the disaster response teams for them that would respond to natural disasters around the country. He was known by many for having a big heart and helping others in need. To Michael, his friends were as much family as was his own family. Michael will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Michael is survived by his wife, Terry Dupont of Bayou Vista; three sons, James Dupont, Travis Dupont of Bayou Vista and Simon Dupont and his wife Mandy of Bayou Vista; one daughter, Michaela Dupont of Bayou Vista; one grandson, Cooper of Bayou Vista; one brother, Allen Dupont of Bayou Vista; one sister, Pat Dupont Becnel and husband Robert of Mandeville; and three nephews, Daniel, Mark and Eric Becnel of Mandeville.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Meriam Dupont; one sister, Josette Dupont; and his grandparents, Robert and Florence LeBeouf, and Adolf and Regina Dupont.
Visitation will take place at Twin City Funeral Home today, Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista at 2 p.m. Michael will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Heart of Hospice in Lafayette in Michael Dupont’s name.
