CROWLEY – Crowley High is getting a new head football coach and athletic director as part of a personnel realignment in Acadia Parish Schools.

Tommy Tate is being transferred at the request of CHS Principal Jim McKeiver and will be succeeded by Josh Fontenot.

The School Board also Monday night moved to put full-time disciplinarians in place at Evangeline Elementary and Estherwood Elementary among other changes.

“There are several reasons for these changes,” said Superintendent John E. Bourque. “One, we would have two full time administrators at each school.”

Bourque stated that the plan is to meet with the instructional assistants each week for the first six weeks.

Disciplinarians would also become the operations person at each school, according to Bourque. He or she would see over transportation, lunch room, janitors and so forth.

“It is needed because, right now the pressure on our IAs (instructional assistants) as well as our principals is unbelievable.”

The moves will leave three reading coaches in the parish. Those three will float to the most at-risk schools, according to Bourque.

The changes were met with unanimous approval by the board.

Employees also learned that for the second month salary supplements will be paid. Support personnel will receive a $500 supplement and professionals will receive a $700 supplement.
