The boys went to the Beau Chene tournament and faced several elite teams.
On Friday, the Tigers played the top ranked team in Division III, Northlake Christian and finished tied, 0-0.
“We controlled the first half and we had some great chances,” MCHS coach Jorge Hernandez said. “We could have had several goals but couldn’t finish them. In the second half Northlake had the momentum, but just like us they had trouble scoring.”
The Tigers faced another tough team in its second game of the tournament, losing 2-1 to Teurlings Catholic, the No. 5 ranked team in Div. II. German Pantoja scored the lone goal in the loss.
University, the No. 5 ranked team in Div. III, was up next for MCHS and the Tigers came out on the losing end, 2-0.
The last game of the tournament was against the top team in Div. I, St. Louis, which MCHS lost, 4-0.
“We played the top ranked teams and we held with them,” Hernandez said. “This was a good tournament to see where we belong and what we as a team need to do.”
The Lady Tigers competed in the Hahnville tournament and finished with a 2-1 record.
MCHS opened the tournament against Comeaux’s junior varsity, winning easily 4-0.
Ashley Rock, Jade Theriot, Shannon Theriot and Celeste Williams all scored in the win.
The Lady Tigers second game was against Destrehan and ended with an impressive 5-2 MCHS win.
Carmen Araujo and S. Theriot scored two goals each and Williams added another in the decisive win.
The last game of the tournament was against Bayside. The Lady Tigers needed a win to advance from the group stage.
Late in the game the teams were tied 2-2 and MCHS decided to push forward, but the tactic backfired allowing Bayside to score the go-ahead goal that would hold up for the win.
Both MCHS squads will travel to face Zachary tonight.
