A Franklin woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-offense driving while intoxicated after she was involved in a four-vehicle accident in Bayou Vista.

Cathy Johnson, 59, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. and also charged with careless operation of a vehicle with a crash and driving under suspension following a traffic accident on U.S. 90 near Fairview Street involving four vehicles, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

During an investigation, a deputy determined that Johnson appeared to be under the influence and a subsequent blood test was done and sent to the lab for testing, Hebert said.

She remained in the Parish Jail this morning with no bond set.

The other three drivers are:

—James Drew, 39, of Patterson.

—Lois Pellerin, 57, of Franklin.

—Devin Guillotte, 20, of New Iberia.

The sheriff said Johnson refused medical treatment at the scene.

The sheriff’s office was unable to provide any more information this morning.

In an unrelated accident earlier in the day, Tammy Duffy, 42, Brownell Street, Morgan City, was arrested Wednesday at 11:52 a.m. and charged with first offense DWI, careless operation of a vehicle with a crash and possession of both marijuana and a schedule 4 narcotic, Clonazepam — which is used to treat seizure disorders or panic disorders .

The arrest was made after police were summoned to a crash on the E.J. “Lionel” Grizzaffi U.S. 90 bridge.

Duffy’s vehicle was the lone on scene and she refused medical treatment.

She has been released from the Parish Jail on a $35,000 bond.
