Centerville Bulldogs post comeback win over FSHS Hornets

CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Bulldogs went on a 28-19 fourth quarter spurge to turn back the Franklin Senior High School Hornets 68-54 here Tuesday at the CHS Gym.

Centerville (7-7) trailed Franklin by a 35-26 margin in the third quarter before rallying behind the 28-19 fourth-quarter run on the way for the comeback victory. Franklin held a closed 13-12 lead in the first period before Centerville struck back with a 13-10 second quarter run. Franklin went on a 12-1 third quarter spurt for the 35-26 cushion. Down the stretch, the Bulldogs stormed back for the pulsating 68-54 win.

Rodrick Taylor led the Bulldogs in scoring with a game-high 22 points on five deuces, one trey and 9 of 14 free throws. Jumanji Washington pumped in 17 points, bagging five 2’s along with 7 of 13 free throws. Quinton Nettle also finished in double digits, tossing in 15 points on six 2’s and 3 of 4 charity shots. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Zacchaeus Jackson, 7; Laroy Gant, 6 and Jaric McDaniel, 1.

Centerville will play West St. Mary today at 5 in the annual Hanson Holiday Classic at the Billy Gene Talbot Gym.

Franklin (2-7) will play the Delcambre Panthers tonight at 8 in the HMS Holiday Classic.
