A Morgan City man was arrested for the attempted second-degree murder of his stepdaughter and her boyfriend.

Bobby Ray Flores, 63, of Arkansas Street was arrested at 12:40 a.m. Sunday.

At approximately 8:52 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Arkansas Street. While en route, they were advised that two people where shot, and the shooter remained on the scene.

Morgan City Police Chief Marc Folse said one victim was a 50-year-old man who was shot in the left side of his chest. The other was a 22-year-old female who was shot in the hand. Both were wounded with a shotgun.

A heated domestic argument between the boyfriend and the stepfather took place inside the residence. At some point, Flores fired a single shotgun blast at the male subject, which struck him, along with striking the stepdaughter, who was next to him, the chief said.

The male victim was sent to Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma where he was in the intensive care unit in stable condition, and the female was sent to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where she remained in stable condition.

Flores was booked into city jail where he remained this morning with no bond set.
