Lady Wolfpack post win over Lady Hornets

BALDWIN — West St. Mary’s Lady Wolfpack outscored the Franklin Lady Hornets in every quarter, earning a 57-28 victory here Tuesday at the West St. Mary High School Gym.

West St. Mary (6-5) jumped outfront by an 8-2 lead before using a 15-9 second period flurry for a 23-11 halftime cushion. The Lady Wolfpack took a commanding 39-17 third quarter lead on the way to the 57-28 victory.

Amber Joe scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Lady Wolfpack. Joe connected on seven field goals along with 2 of 5 free throws for her 16 points. Kiristen Thomas and Myla Dapremont bagged five field goals each for 10 points apiece to polish off the West St. Mary double digit scorers.

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Wolfpack were: Gentrell Wells, 6; Alexis Cross, 5; Chelsee Connor, 4; Sequoya Fergerson 2 and Rhaya Marks, 2.

Dalyn Jones led Franklin with 10 points on a pair of field goals and 6 of 14 free throws while Karson Grogan, J’Ashayla Bowers and Fabian Small all scored six points apiece.

The West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack will travel to face Westgate on Friday.

The Franklin Lady Hornets will return home to host the Abbeville Lady Wildcats in the opening of district action.
