The Sunkist Shootout at St. Thomas More in Lafayette was busy with quarterfinal games on Wednesday.

Central Catholic moved on and will face the tournament hosts tonight.

St. Thomas More (15-2) beat Shreveport Northwood 55-51 to set up the rematch of last season’s quarterfinals, which Central Catholic won.

Trey Touchet led STM with 17 points and Ben Veazey added 12. Northwood (9-9) was led by Jamarcia Houston with 17, Angelo Robert with 15 and Broderick Richardson with 13.

Ellender (13-5) beat St. Thomas Aquinas, 61-28, in its quarterfinal game.

The Patriots’ 6-foot-10 post Gilbert Talbot led all scorers with 20 points and Houston Chatman added 10.

St. Thomas Aquinas (13-4) was led by Steven Wronkoski with seven points.

Ellender will face District 8-4A rival Vandebilt Catholic in the other semifinal today at 8 p.m.

The Terriers (11-4) beat New Albany from Mississippi, 52-42, behind the dynamic guard combination of Lionheart Leslie and Elijah McGuire.
