Dorothie Mae Broussard Jones, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Jan. 2, 2012, in Baton Rouge at the age of 77.
Dorothie was born March 25, 1934, in Cow Island. She was the daughter of Clance Broussard and Ozite Guidry Broussard. Mrs.
Jones is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold Jones; three daughters, Ramona Wigington and her husband Scott, Rhonda Burtner and her husband Dave and Rosalind Jones; one son, Danny DeRouen and his wife Debbie; 11 grandchildren, Heath Jones and his wife Jessica, Gaylon Diedling and her husband Brian, Tommy Wells, Hayley Alpha, Harold Alpha, Tamara Wells, Hannah Fairley and her husband Daniel, Taylor Burtner and his wife Megan, Danielle Comeaux and her husband Ryan, Todd DeRouen and Michael DeRouen; 11 great-grandchildren, Breanna and Brock Jones, Eden Fairley, McKayla, Cheyenne, Connor and Paityn Wells, Jose “Joe” Perou and Jace LaViolette, and Rylie and Demi Comeaux.
She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Lou Richard and her husband Herman and Roberta Sexton and her husband Edward; a brother, Clevelin Broussard and his companion Anita; her close friends Diane and Dan Irwin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Norris and Nodley Mark Broussard; a sister, Blanche Jeanette Hall; a nephew, Danny Broussard; and a niece, Paulette Broussard.
Visitation for Dorothie will be held today, Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, 6-9 p.m., with Rosary services at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista at 2 p.m.
Dorothie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
