Bell City holds off Centerville, 47-40

Josh Jagneaux poured in 18 points, lifting Bell City to a hard-fought 47-40 victory over the Centerville Bulldogs Tuesday in non-district action.

Bell City grabbed an early 17-12 lead before Centerville went on a 6-0 second-quarter run for a 18-17 halftime cushion. Bell City benefited from a 12-5 third quarter spurt, gaining a 29-23 advantage. Bell City managed to outscore the Centerville Bulldogs by an 18-17 margin in the final period, hanging on for the 47-40 win.

Jagneaux led Bell City with 18 points while Kendall Cary added 12 points.

Jumanji Washington poured in a game-high 20 points for Centerville. Other top scorers for the Bulldogs were: Laroy Gant, 7; Zacchaeus Jackson, 4; Rodrick Taylor, 4; Dylan Burgess, 4 and Quinton Nettles, 1.

Centerville, 9-10 on the season, will play host to Morgan City on Friday with three games on the schedule beginning at 5:30 p.m.
