LAFAYETTE – Services for evangelist Jean Hunt Miller will be Saturday. She died Jan. 4 at age 72.

She and her husband Sterling founded The Family Church and Lafayette Christian Academy. She was an evangelist to a number of foreign nations with Marilyn Hickey.

Survivors include her husband, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Melancon.

Bottling exec

LAFAYETTE – Services for businessman and civic leader Larry Smith will be Saturday. He died Jan. 4 at age 63.

He was president of Acadiana Bottling and Vending Co. and several other firms. He founded the Acadiana Food Bank and the Recycling Foundation.

Survivors include his wife Sandra and four daughters.

Arrangements are by Delhomme.

Ex-public official, La. Tech gridder

BATON ROUGE – Services for former mayor pro tem and parish councilman William Day, Jr. will be Saturday. He died Jan. 3 at age 80.

He was mayor pro tem in the Woody Dumas administration and a parish council member before that. He also served on the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission.

A member of the Baker High School Athletic Hall of Fame, he played football at Louisiana Tech University and was U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth.

Arrangements are by Greenoaks.

Language specialist

BATON ROUGE – Services for former School Board member and teacher Patrice Niquille are pending. She died Jan. 2.

She was foreign language education specialist who taught French at Istrouma High and was also certified to teach in English and social studies.
