Robert M. Shivers III, a native of Patterson and vice president of projects for ATP Oil & Gas Corporation in Houston, will be the guest speaker at the Atchafalaya Chapter API meeting Tuesday at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City.

His topic will be Gulf of Mexico developments and other company initiatives.

In his position, Shivers oversees and optimizes the company’s offshore development projects in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea. He served 19 years with Getty/Texaco on the Gulf Coast and in the United Kingdom. He has been with ATP Oil & Gas since 2001.

Shivers managed ATP’s first deepwater development, the Gomez Floating Production Facility in 3,000 feet of water. Following Gomez, he managed the Telemark Hub development in 4,000 feet of water featuring the design and building of the first MinDOC floating platform.

Currently, he is managing the Cheviot project in the British North Sea, which will feature the first ever Octabuoy floating platform, and also is working on ATP’s proprietary floating LNG concept.

He graduated from Patterson High School and holds a bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

The API social will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m.
