A Morgan City man was arrested for the Jan. 2 burglary of a Federal Avenue residence.

Larry Hampton, 26, of Bush Street was charged at 4:29 p.m. Monday with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

During the burglary of the home in the 1600 block of Federal Avenue, electronic items such as a camera and camcorder along with personal effects were taken. Investigators developed Hampton as a suspect and a search of his residence was performed, Morgan City Police Chief Marc Folse said.

Items taken in the burglary were recovered and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. Hampton was brought in to the MCPD, where he was questioned and then served with the warrant, the chief said.

Hampton remained incarcerated this morning in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Elsewhere, Kelly S. Richard, 32, of Cross LeRue in Pierre Part was charged Monday at 7:44 p.m. with theft by shoplifting and on two warrants for probation violation.

A deputy was called to the Bayou Vista Wal-Mart after store security observed Richard taking clothing items valued at $45 and concealing them in her purse, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

Richard remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

Also, Rachel Fabre, 26, whose name appeared in Monday’s police report, does not reside on Mike Drive in Patterson as was reported to The Daily Review.

She instead lives on Sydney Jo Lane in Berwick.
