The street overlay is a portion of the work that is being funded via the recently passed 0.3 percent sales tax.
The concession rights up for approval are for sales at Lake End Park, while the bid for the cabin construction is for Lake End Parkway.
The council’s agenda also includes a public hearing and consideration of adoption of its 2012 amended budget, which includes, among other items, an additional 1 percent in longevity pay for city employees, upping their salary increase for 2012 to 3 percent.
The council also will consider a first reading for an ordinance for the incurring of debt and issuance of $4 million of sales tax bonds for its roadway repairs. The bonds were approved by the state bond commission on Thursday.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the council will revisit the idea of a pedestrian crossing on La. 70 near Teche Regional Medical Center. The idea was brought up a few months ago at a council meeting but deferred for more study by the state Department of Transportation and Development because of its proximity to a street light at La. 70 and Victor II Boulevard.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the council will consider resolutions for:
—Tennis pro contract renewal.
—Head Start support.
—Awarding a proposal for utility service for Oak Street Water Tower maintenance.
—A resolution opposing the closure of the downtown U.S. Post Office location.
—The state’s Master Plan for Coastal Protection and Restoration.
—Local Government Assistance Program support.
—A change order for Cypress Park.
The council also will consider Class A Liquor and Beer permits for Lori Michelle Properties, doing business as The Drink House (501 First St.) and Bella Smith, dba Atchafalaya Café LLC (7310 Highway 182 East).
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the City Court Building (corner of Business 90 and Myrtle Street) and is open to the public.
