He presented an informative program titled “Proper Pruning Techniques for Trees and Shrubs.”
Joffrion has a bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Wildlife, and a master’s degree in Education and Urban Forestry.
His program focused on the identification and maintenance of “troubled” trees, along with demonstrations of pruning techniques and tools. Several handouts were distributed on the selection, planting and care of urban trees including the LSU AgCenter publication titled, Native Tree Growing Guide for Louisiana.
Donna Bucci, BVGC vice president and program chairman, presented Joffrion with a gift of appreciation.
Hostesses for January’s program were Jeannie Lawrence and Verdie Laws.
The floral design, “Sparkling New Year” was created by Lawrence. Plant material in the hat container included painted agapanthus stems, ponytails Beaucarnea Recurvata, white cremon chrysanthemum, and Dutch variety football chrysanthemums.
Door prize winner was Jean Chauvin.
