Centerville soars by Hosanna Christian

CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Bulldogs improved to 4-1 in District 8-B with a 57-46 victory over Hosanna Christian here Tuesday at the CHS Gym.

Centerville (14-12, 4-1) built a 15-7 first quarter lead of which it did not relinquish. In the second quarter, Centerville went on a 9-8 run for a halftime cushion of 23-16. Centerville held the upper hand in the third quarter with a 12-9 spurt en route to a 22-16 fourth quarter flurry, capping the 57-46 victory.

Jumanji Washington led the Bulldogs with scoring with a game-high 21 points on nine deuces and 3 of 6 freebies. Rodrick Taylor poured in 20 points, bagging five deuces, one trey and 7 of 12 charity shots. Laroy Gant polished off the Bulldogs’ double digit scorers with 11 points on a a pair of 2’s, one trey and a perfect 4 for 4 from the line.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Zacchaeus Jackson, 2; Quinton Nettles, 2, and Jaric McDaniel, 1.

Josh Martin and Gerald Johnson finished with 17 and 16 points respectively for Hosanna Christian.

Centerville will travel to Holden on Friday.

Hosanna Christian (15-16, 2-3) will travel to play Lafayette Christian on Friday.
