RUSTON – Services for former prosecutor as well as defense lawyer James Lewis will be Saturday. He died Jan. 29.
He was a former Marine Corps captain, taught business law at UL-Monroe, was a prosecutor in Grant and Winn parishes and was a defense attorney in Ouachita Parish. He founded the Monroe Boys and Girls Club.
Survivors include his wife Marilynn and a son.

COVINGTON – Services for model, actress, businesswoman and volunteer Sara Birdsong will be Saturday. She died Jan. 29 at age 91.
She was corporate treasurer of the family engineering firm, Birdsong Associates, President of Fashion Mannequins, taught modeling at the Barbizon School of Modeling, and was Fashion Editor for the University of New Orleans Video Program.
She was a member of Screen Actors Guild and the boards of Childrens Hospital and the Press Club of New Orleans.
Survivors include her husband Frank, two sons and a daughter.

NEW IBERIA – Services for businessman Edmond Himel will be Saturday. He died Jan. 31 at age 84.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and owner of Himel Motor Supply and Himel Marine.
Survivors include his wife Lilla, four sons and three daughters.
Arrangements are by Pellerin.
KAPLAN – Services for long-time volunteer fireman Rodney Richard will be Thursday. He died Jan. 31 at age 92.
He was a founding member of the Kaplan Lions Club, its president for many years and was secretary-treasurer of the volunteer fire department for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife Velma, two sons and a daughter.
