Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Edmond Ray Himel, 84, who passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Born on June 13, 1927, Mr. Himel received a Naval Commission proudly serving our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a 1946 graduate of Tulane University. He was the owner of Himel Motor Supply and Himel Marine.
Survivors include his wife, of 59 years, Lilla S. Himel of New Iberia; sons, Tim F. Himel and wife, Sherry; Kent N. Himel and wife, Catherine; Jonathan S. Himel and wife, Mary; Jordan “Jed” A. Himel and wife, Lisa, all of New Iberia; daughters, Mary Louise H. “Lulu” Wemple of Baton Rouge; Ann H. Lorio and husband, Michael, of Jeanerette; Lilla “Lee” H. Schexnayder and husband, Paul, of New Iberia; brother, James M. Himel and wife, Vicky, of Morgan City; 18 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Dennis Himel Sr. and Gladys Bourgeois Himel; brothers, H.D. Himel Jr. and Walter Himel; sisters, Marjorie Himel Galloway, Cora Mae Himel Kuyrkendall, Dorothy Himel Koen, Patricia Himel Gill Newsham; and son-in-law, John Wemple.
