A large crowd was on hand for the homemade chili dinner sponsored by Patterson State Bank. Pat Fryer, Linda Darce and a crew of volunteers prepared the meal. King cake was provided by Journey Hospice of Houma, coffee by Mid South Bank and the birthday/anniversary cake by M C Bank.
A special encore presentation of the 2012 St. Mary AARP Mardi Gras Court was held during the meeting. Theme of the court was “Heroes of the Old West.”
In keeping with the theme, featured characters were Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill Cody and Annie Oakley, The Lone Ranger and Tonto, and Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
The St. Mary AARP membership drive officially ended Jan. 31, but new members as well as renewals are accepted at any time. Dues for 2012-13 is now $12 per person, both spouses must join even if only one spouse if 50 years or older. For membership information call 985-384-2277.
