The Patterson Lumberjacks’ basketball team defeated Erath, 62-41, on the road on Tuesday to conclude District 9-3A play with a perfect 12-0 mark.

The ’Jacks outscored Erath in every quarter except the fourth.

After jumping out to a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, the ’Jacks extended their lead to 36-18 at the half.

A 17-7 third quarter advantage helped the ’Jacks increase their lead to 53-25.

In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats outscored the ’Jacks, 16-9, for the final margin.

“This was a very solid performance for three quarters,” PHS coach Ryan Taylor said. “We were able to get the big lead and relaxed in the fourth. I was not happy with how we finished the game because we have been preaching consistency. We just need to learn that you don’t play the scoreboard. You must focus on each possession. But it was a good performance and I congratulated my guys for winning the district and going undefeated in district.”

Trevon Stewart led Patterson with 14 points, while Tremaine Lightfoot added 11. Other PHS scorers included Gino Hall, nine; Dylan Sanders, six; Traylon Jennings, five; Jedrick Gunner and Sherman Edwards, four each; and Deondre Skinner and Shelby Lavergne, two apiece.

“Now it is time to put in the work to prepare for the playoffs,” Taylor said. “It now becomes win or you are done.”

The ’Jacks will find out their first round playoff opponent on Friday when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association releases the brackets.

In the girls’ matchup in Erath, the Lady Bobcats defeated the Lumberjills, 39-14.

Claudia Fine led Patterson with five points, one rebound, five steals and seven blocks.

Other ’Jills making the stat sheet included Alexis Webb, three points; Nakia Brooks, two points, three rebounds and three blocks; Tala Johnson, two points and six rebounds; and Kassandra Merritt, two points and two rebounds.
