A jackknifed vehicle blocked both lanes of eastbound U.S. 90 causing traffic delays early Friday afternoon.

Morgan City Police Chief Marc Folse said a Toyota Sequoia towing a utility trailer with a small vehicle on it experienced a blowout. This caused the vehicle and trailer to jackknife across the two lanes of elevated highway in Morgan City.

No injuries were reported in the 12:37 p.m. incident. The accident was cleared, opening the flow of traffic, at 2:19 p.m., Folse said.

With all of the parades for the local Mardi Gras season taking place in Morgan City this year, police have been vigilant and crowds have been on good behavior.

There were no parade-related arrests over the weekend, MCPD Chief Marc Folse said.
