Patterson Garden Club held its monthly meeting Feb. 15 at the Patterson Area Civic Center.

Hostesses for the meeting were Sandra Underwood and Sharon Larson, who decorated with a Mardi Gras theme and served party sandwiches, wild rice salad and king cake.

The planned tour of the home garden of Jerry and Angela Boyles had to cancel due to inclement weather. Long-time member and avid gardener Gretchen Lambert stepped in and gave horticulture hints and brought a basketful of homegrown oranges to share with the club.

During the business portion of the meeting Iris Roy, Garden Therapy Committee chairman, reminded members that the club would be hosting the monthly birthday party at the Patterson Health Care Center on Feb. 24.

Underwood, Scholarship Committee chairman, gave an update on a timeline for getting paperwork turned in and selecting a winner of the PGC annual scholarship. Other items discussed were the upcoming Louisiana Garden Club Federation Cleanest City Contest and the Arbor Day Ceremony held Feb. 3 at Hattie Watts Elementary School in Patterson.

Daisy Leblanc, Garden of the Month Committee chairman, announced winners of the February Garden of the Month as Carol and Alayna Portier and Michael and Brenda Cremaldi.

The meeting concluded with the half-and-half drawing, which was won by Ginger Griffin.
