MONROE – Services for timber executive Hugh Vick were Thursday. He died Feb. 21 at age 90.
He was a U.S. Navy aviation veteran of World War II and was general manager of Kellogg Lumber Co. for 37 years. He was a two-time president of the Louisiana Forestry Association.
Survivors include his wife Willie and three daughters.
Arrangements were by Mulhearn.
Glass company founder
BATON ROUGE – Services will be Saturday for glass company owner Nelson Bourgeois. He died Feb. 23.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and founder and owner of Louisiana Glass.
Survivors include his wife Marshall Ann.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
Public works director
PORT ALLEN – Services for former public works director James Callender, Jr. will be Saturday. He died Feb. 20 at age 87.
He retired as Port Allen public works director and was manager of Poplar Grove Plantation for 31 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife Pearl, four sons and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Wilbert.
NLU radio voice
MONROE – Services for the former radio voice of Northeast Louisiana University (now UL-Monroe) football John “Pappy” Allen, Jr. were Thursday. He died Feb. 21 at age 92.
He was a lifelong insurance salesman who became the NLU radio voice in the 1970s.
Survivors include his wife Helen, a son and a daughter.
Former music minister
BATON ROUGE – Services for former Baptist music minister Dr. Bryant Dean are Friday. He died Feb. 22 at age 89.
He served many churches in Louisiana as a minister of music and education.
Survivors include a son and three daughters.
