From Staff Reports

The Central Catholic Eagles fell on the road to E.D. White Monday, 5-3.

The Eagles left 10 runners on base, including six in scoring position and had the bases loaded with one out in the seventh inning but couldn’t get a timely hit.

Barron Courtney led CCHS (2-2) at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with a double, an RBI and a run, while Austin Autin finished 2-for-3 with a run.

Other CCHS offensive contributors included Eriq Blanchard, 1-for-4; Dominick Guarisco, 1-for-2; and Samuel Guarisco, an RBI.

On the mound, Nick Longman pitched four innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Autin pitched a third of an inning and walked two, while Bryson Barbier pitched 12/3 innings and surrendered one hit while striking out two.

“We played much better than we did Saturday,” CCHS coach Tyler Jensen said. “Nick Longman gave us a chance to win the game and that’s all we can ask. He bounced back nicely from his outing on Saturday. We are getting better and that’s very good to see. We’re excited about getting back to practice and getting back on the right track against Carencro on Thursday.”

The Eagles will return to action on Thursday when they open play in the Breaux Bridge High School Tournament against Carencro High School at 5:45 p.m.
