MICAH PIPPIN, a third year medical student from New Orleans, is in Franklin participating in a new program called TRIP – Tulane Rural Immersion Program. Traditionally, the majority of third year medical students’ curriculum in surgery, ob/gyn, pediatrics, internal medicine and family medicine is spent at the medical school in New Orleans. However, Pippin, for his third year in medical school, is living in Franklin and being taught by local physicians Dr. Tesi, Dr. Delgado, Dr. Accardo, Dr. Gunda, Dr. McPherson, Dr. Bustillo and Dr. McCormick. Pippin is originally from Woodworth, La. He enjoys living in Franklin and the one on one teacher/student ratio he receives from the Franklin Foundation Hospital medical staff. Upon graduation, he plans to practice primary care in rural Louisiana.
