Levee board will meet Thursday

The St. Mary Levee District will meet Thursday to discuss numerous housekeeping tasks along with updates on older projects including the Bayou Chene structure modeling.

Discussion on the personnel manual, amendment of by-laws and the attorney agreement, along with action on an ordinance governing levee use restrictions, an emergency services request for quotes and action related to using Miller Engineers of Franklin for limestone repairs are on the table.

Also up for discussion are old projects such as the steel pile at Athena’s facility, modification and removal of flood structures including at Hanson Canal, action on Franklin Canal closure structure and discussions related to insurance coverage.

The meeting is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Port of Morgan City meeting room, 800 Youngs Rd., in Morgan City. It is open to the public.
