CCHS baseball, softball tourneys set

The Central Catholic High School baseball and softball squads will host their annual tournaments this weekend at the Amelia Recreation Complex.

The baseball tournament will begin Thursday, while the softball tournament will begin Friday.

Prior to the last baseball game of the tournament between CCHS and Houma Christian at 8:30 p.m., the Eagles will hold a ceremony at 8:15 p.m. honoring its 2002 state champion baseball team and coaches. The squad captured the Class 1A crown with a 6-1 victory against Cedar Creek 10 years ago. It finished the season 28-7 overall.

The baseball tournament will feature South Terrebonne, Loreauville, CCHS, Vandebilt, Patterson, Houma Christian, Northlake Christian and Central Lafourche.

Action will begin Thursday at 3:15 p.m. when South Terrebonne and Loreauville hit the field. The game will be followed by a 5:30 p.m. matchup between Central Catholic and Vandebilt Catholic, while Patterson and Houma Christian will meet in the nightcap at 7:45 p.m.

On Friday, Loreauville and Houma Christian will meet at 3:15 p.m. followed by Central Lafourche and South Terrebonne at 5:30 p.m. and a matchup between Central Catholic and Northlake Christian is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.

On Saturday, six games are scheduled, beginning with Patterson and Vandebilt Catholic meeting at 9 a.m., followed by Loreauville and Central Lafourche at 11:15 a.m.

At 1:30 p.m., Northlake Christian will take on South Terrebonne, while at 3:45 p.m., Central Lafourche and Vandebilt Catholic will hit the diamond.

At 6 p.m., Patterson and Northlake Christian will play, followed by Central Catholic and Houma Christian at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday will be used as a makeup day for any games that can’t be played during the tournament.

For the Lady Eagles, its tournament will include CCHS, Franklin, St. Martinville, Ellender, Houma Christian, West St. Mary, Centerville, South Plaquemines and Assembly Christian.

Games will be held on two fields.

On field one, Friday’s action will begin with a 3:30 p.m. meeting between CCHS and Franklin followed by a 5:30 p.m. meeting between St. Martinville and Ellender and a 7:30 p.m. matchup between Houma Christian and CCHS.

On field two, West St. Mary and Centerville will meet at 3:30 p.m., followed by a 5:30 p.m. meeting between South Plaquemines and Assembly Christian.

On Saturday, action on field one will begin with a 10 a.m. game between Houma Christian and St. Martinville, followed by a noon matchup between Ellender and Franklin.

Action will continue with a 2 p.m. matchup between Houma Christian and Franklin, followed by a 4 p.m. matchup between CCHS and Ellender.

Action will conclude on field one with a meeting between CCHS and St. Martinville at 6 p.m.

On field two, action will begin at 10 a.m. when Assembly Christian and Centerville take the field, followed by a noon matchup between South Plaquemines and West. St. Mary.

At 2 p.m., West St. Mary will face Assembly Christian, followed by a 4 p.m. meeting between Centerville and South Plaquemines.
