Journalism professor

BATON ROUGE – Services for longtime journalism professor Dr. Elsie Hebert will be Saturday. She died March 10 at age 86.

After working as a reporter and editor in Alabama, she taught for 35 years in the LSU School of Journalism.

Survivors include two sons.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Long-time priest

ALEXANDRIA – Services for long-time priest and diocesan official Father Bernard Zagst will be Friday. He died at age 76.

His first pastoral assignment was at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. He also pastored parishes in Mansfield and Shreveport at St. Frances Cabrini in Alexandria. He held several diocesan posts including consultor and dean.

Arrangements are by John Kramer & Son.

Former county agent

MARKSVILLE – Services will be Thursday for retired county agent Shelton Braud. He died March 12 at age 92.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the European Theater of World War II and held the Bronze Star. He served the LSU Agricultural Extension Service in Point Coupee, St. Landry and Avoyelles Parishes, received a national distinguished service award and was active in a number of civic and veterans organizations.

Survivors include his wife Marian, four sons and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Water system exec

ELM GROVE – Services for water system executive and farmer Robert Elston will be Thursday. He died March 12 at age 91.

A former Centenary College baseball player, he was on the BREMCO board for 12 years and on the Bossier Parish Farm Bureau board for more than 50 years. At his death he was president of the South Bossier Water System.

Survivors include five children.

Arrangements are by Osborn.

Wholesaler

MONROE – Services for wholesaler and civic leader David Waller, Sr. will be Thursday. He died March 12 at age 65.

He was owner for 40 years of Pelican State Wholesale and on the board of Twin City Ballet Co.

Survivors include his wife Marilynn, a son and a daughter.

Arrangements are by Mulhearn.
