FSHS Hornets turn back JHS Tigers

JEANERETTE — Lane Howard and Roderick Brown combined on the top performances as the Franklin Hornets defeated the Jeanerette Tigers 8-2 Tuesday at the JHS Tiger Field.

Howard, who was named the FSHS Player of the game, earned the mound victory after working seven complete innings, surrendering two runs while striking out 11 batters without a walk. Howard also helped his own cause with a 2 for 4 outing at the plate.

Brown earned the “Pete Rose Charlie Hustle” Play of the Game while also going 1 for 3 with two runs and two RBI on the day.

Other top hitters for the Hornets were: Brandon McFarlane, 1 for 5, run; Allen Randle, 1 for 3, 2 runs; Jarion Brown, 1 for 3, RBI, 2 runs; Lane Howard, 2 for 4; B. J. Mitchell, 1 for 1, RBI and Angelo Eave, run.

Franklin will host the West St. Mary Wolfpack in the “Pack the Bleachers Garnet and Gold” game tonight at 6 at the FSHS Field. Admission is $5.
