One of Franklin’s historic lampposts was destroyed Thursday by an elderly Patterson man reportedly undergoing a medical emergency. Shortly after 11 a.m., the man’s Ford pickup was westbound on Main Street when it ran into the first lamppost on the boulevard at Acadian Lane. It continued to travel in the eastbound lane a block farther until it ran into a utility pole at Bodin Drive and flipped over on its passenger side. The man was extricated through the truck’s windshield by first responders from the Franklin Fire Department. He did not appear to be seriously injured, according to reports from the scene. Further details were not available this morning.
