ALEXANDRIA – A former church youth minister was sentenced to 40 years after pleading guilty Monday to four counts of forcible rape of boys whose families were church members.

Angelo “Doobie” Golatta received 40 years concurrent on each count from 9th Judicial District Judge Tom Yeager.

Golatt, 29, was a youth minister at the now-closed Donahue Family Church in Pineville during much of the period from 2003 to 2007 when the crimes occurred.

He was indicted last year on 13 charges: two counts of aggravated rape, one count of attempted aggravated rape, eight counts of sexual battery, one count of molestation of a juvenile and once count of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

The penalty for aggravated rape is mandatory life.
