Evelyn Pontiff fired a one-hitter, sending the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers to a 15-0 District 8-1A opening triumph over the Gueydan Lady Bears Tuesday at the HMS Softball Field.

Pontiff (10-0) handcuffed the Lady Bears’ batters, not allowing a run while yielding only one hit with four strikeouts and two walks.

The Lady Tigers hitters brought out the heavy lumber, belting 12 hits including three doubles over the abbreviated contest.

Hanson’s Macy Simoneaux, Macie Guillotte and Evelyn Pontiff all ripped doubles to pave the way for the HMS Lady Tigers top batters.

Leading hitters for the Hanson Lady Tigers were: Macy Simoneaux, 2 for 4, double, 2 RBI, 2 runs; Paige Diamond, 3 for 4, 3 RBI, run; Morgan Baudoin, 1 for 2, 2 RBI, 2 runs; Macie Guillotte, 3 for 3, double, RBI, 2 runs; Evelyn Pontiff, 1 for 2, double, 2 runs; Lexi Coleman, 1 for 3, RBI, run and Brittany Broussard, 1 for 3, RBI, run.

Hanson (12-2, 1-0) will travel to face Vermilion Catholic on Thursday at 5 p.m. in district action.
