The event, which starts at 1 p.m., is the kickoff event of the Cypress Sawmill Festival in Patterson at Kemper Williams Park.
Tournament Chairman Bill Marin is expecting a full field of 30 teams again this year. Each team will consist of three players and two teams will be paired together during tournament play.
Team entry fee is $350.
Marin said only three team openings remain for the tournament. Anyone interested in having a team participate or a corporate sponsorship can contact Marin at Patterson State Bank, 985-395-8112, or at email@example.com.
“By having a field of 30 teams, it allows us to start the tournament with three of the par 3s open, with no teams starting on those holes, which is conducive to a faster paced tournament,” Marin stated.
The 2012 tournament will award prizes to the top 3 finishers in the championship, first and second flights. There also will be an individual prize for winners of the longest drive and closest-to-hole competitions.
This year, Cameron International again will provide a food/drink tent. Cannata’s Supermarket also has agreed to have their mobile cooking equipment on the course.
“Unlike most other scramble tournaments, our format does not allow for the sale of mulligans,” Marin said. “What we want is for all teams to play fairly and for the winning teams to earn their place in the order of finish. I get excellent reviews from our tournament players. We pay very good prize money and our players and teams keep coming back every year because they love the competitiveness and tournament format. From the start, this tournament has always been about fair play, and all of our players know that this tournament is the closest they’ll get to true golf competition using the scramble format.”
