The St. Mary Parish School System has launched its annual School Climate Surveys for Parents, Teachers, and Students. These surveys provide “reality checks” designed to foster a climate that promotes open, trusting relationships and collaboration among stakeholders. The district looks forward to receiving responses from as many parents and guardians as possible.

The School Climate Survey for Parents gives the opportunity to share opinions. Each school has been assigned a different link to the survey, and a postcard with the web address for the survey was mailed to all parents of students in grades K-12. If you did not receive the postcard, contact your child’s school for the survey link. The survey link will be open until April 5. Parents without Internet access may pick up a paper copy of the survey from their child’s school. Additionally, a Spanish version of the parent survey will be available upon request.

—After opening a web browser, type the survey web address into the address bar at the top of the web page.

—Click on the “Start Survey” button found on the Survey Introduction Page.

—Statement 1: After reading this statement, click on one of the buttons for the rating that best matches your opinion: Highly ineffective; Ineffective; Neutral; Effective; Highly effective; Not applicable.

—Statements 2-28: After reading these statements, click on one of the buttons for the ratings that best match your opinion: Strongly disagree; Disagree; Neutral; Agree; Strongly agree.

District and school officials use survey results in decision-making for developing school improvement plans, creating professional development opportunities, and making schools more responsive to the needs of all stakeholders.

Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard encourages everyone to participate in the survey and reminds parents that all responses will be kept confidential and anonymous. Participation in the school climate survey is completely voluntary, but the information provided is vital to the well-being and strength of the educational climate in St. Mary Parish.
