Long-time marshal

KAPLAN – Services were Monday for long-time city marshal Percy Manceaux, Jr. He died March 29 at age 75.

He had been city marshal since 1996 and was a former policeman.

Survivors include a son and three daughters.

Former school superintendent

COLUMBIA – Services for former Supt. of Schools Edmond Richard, Jr. will be Saturday. He died April 2 at age 86.

He held the Bronze Star for valor and two Purple Hearts from service with the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division in Europe during World War II.

He was principal of Columbia High and Caldwell High before becoming superintendent of Caldwell schools. He also taught in LaSalle Parish before joining the Caldwell system.

Survivors include his wife Helen and a son.

Arrangements are by Riser.

Civic and church leader

BUNKIE – Services civic and church leader Nancy Mikell Carruth will be Thursday. She died April 1.

She served on numerous international, national, state and local boards, committees and conferences, including the Executive Commission of the World Methodist Council, the SMU and Centernary College boards and the Methodist Children Home, Ruston board. She was a Bunkie General Hospital commissioner.

Survivors include a son and a daughter.
