Drug agents make MC arrest

Narcotics Task Force agents arrested Amanda Williams, 27, of River Road in Berwick Monday afternoon for improper lane usage, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.

Agents were patrolling the Morgan City area when they observed Williams’ vehicle turn onto Mark Street and cross the center line. The agents conducted a traffic stop and learned that Williams was driving under suspension. During the investigation, the suspect was found to have marijuana in her possession, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

In other business, the SMPSO responded to 44 complaints and conducted the following arrests:

—Alton W. Mizell, 48, of Chestnut Drive, Morgan City, warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding. Booked into the parish jail with a $314.50 cash bond and later released.

—Marquita Craft, 28, of Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, theft of a wallet from the Money Center in Walmart. Placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court.

—Thomas Steely, 36, of Front Street, Morgan City, theft of a cell phone. Placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court.

—Curtis Knight, 47, of Southeast Boulevard, Bayou Vista, warrant for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family. Booked into the parish jail with a $14,020.23 bond.

The Morgan City Police Department arrested two on domestic battery charges, Craig S. French, 43, and Kahnie R. Gaudet, 41, both of Justa Street. Bond set at $1,000 for each.
