Due to heavy rains in the New Orleans area on Monday, the Morgan City Lady Tigers’ Class 4A first round softball game against Ursuline Academy was rescheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. in New Orleans.
The Berwick Lady Panthers' Class 3A bi-district matchup with Port Barre, set for 4 p.m. today, also has been moved to the same time on Wednesday because of inclement weather during the past 24 hours.
For Morgan City, the game was called Monday, less than an hour before its scheduled 5 p.m. start, after Morgan City already had made it to the field.
While it originally was rescheduled for today at 5 p.m., it was cancelled this morning and will be played Wednesday.
Morgan City, the No. 17 seed, enters the playoffs with an 18-12 overall mark and a 5-3 District 8-4A record, while Ursuline, the No. 16 seed, finished the regular season with a 14-13 overall mark and a 7-1 record in District 10-4A.
Also on Monday, Central Catholic’s game against District 8-1A foe Ascension Episcopal was rained out and rescheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m.
The Eagles will celebrate Senior Day following the game.
Today's baseball game for the Berwick Panthers, a District 9-3A home matchup with Abbeville, has been postponed until Thursday and will be played at 6 p.m. as part of a doubleheader for the Panthers. Berwick will begin the afternoon with another District 9-3A contest, a 3:30 p.m. matchup with Franklin.
Also in the Tri-City area, Patterson and Franklin both were scheduled to meet today in District 9-3A action, but that game has been rained out and rescheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Franklin.
