Numerous drug charges were levied against an Amelia man Monday night.

Jonathan J. Williams, 24, of Duval Street was arrested at 7:22 p.m. on warrants for violation of drug free zone, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, transactions involving drug proceeds and resisting an officer. He additionally was charged with possession of marijuana and resisting an officer by flight.

Agents of the St. Mary Narcotics Task Force were patrolling Friendship Alley in Amelia when they attempted to make contact with Williams, but he fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit suspect was placed under arrest on warrants. While agents were chasing Williams, he was observed throwing a bag to the ground. It was recovered and found to be a bag of marijuana, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Williams was booked into the parish jail where he remained this morning with no bond set.

Ronald J. Winslow Jr., 21, of Ciro Street in Siracusa was arrested Monday at 5:01 p.m. for possession of marijuana, resisting an officer by flight, two warrants for drug court violations and two warrants for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family.

Agents were patrolling the Siracusa area when Winslow ran from them. He was apprehended and found to be in possession of marijuana, Hebert said.

Winslow was booked into the parish jail where he remained this morning in lieu of a $210,833 bond.

Also arrested by the SMPSO were:

—David W. Mire Sr., 35, Felicia Street, Morgan City, 1:03 a.m. today; failure to appear for criminal neglect of family; $11,808 bond.

—Kayla L. Comeaux Johnson, 24, Moffett Court, Morgan City, 1:03 a.m. today; two failure to appear warrants for the charges of driving under suspension and resisting an officer; $4,500 bond.

The Morgan City Police Department arrested:

—Herberth Cruz, 25, address unknown, 12:30 a.m. Monday; disturbing the peace intoxicated, theft (food bill $13.80). Incarcerated, no bond set.

—Michelle L. Lanclos, 25, Yellow Bayou Road, Franklin, 10:59 a.m. Monday; city court warrant for failure to appear in court for theft and probation violation. Released on $756 bond.
