Herman Hartman, a retired teacher from Morgan City has been elected president of the Red Ribbon Committee for the upcoming year. Also, Marilyn Harris, an employee of the Office of Addictive Disorders of Houma, will serve as vice president. Both are long-standing members of the Red Ribbon Committee. During the recent meeting of the committee several other members were recognized including out-going chairman Karen Matthews of Chitimacha Social Services. The Weaver’s Award went to Kay Raymond of St. Mary Outreach for her dedication and commitment to drug prevention in St. Mary Parish. Sheryl Doiron of St. Mary Community Action Agency received a plaque of appreciation for having served as the committee’s CAA liaison for more than 20 years.
