Two local athletes were among those honored during Nicholls State University’s Athletics Department’s inaugural Athletics Academic Gala in April.
David Zorn of Bayou Vista, a member of the university’s baseball team, and Hunter Hannegan of Bayou Vista, a member of Nicholls’ football team, were among the honorees during the ceremony.
They were among the student-athletes that have maintained a 3.0 or higher grade point average during the past year that were honored during the gala.
Zorn, a student in the College of Business Administration, and Hannegan, a student in University College, were named members of the Bronze teams in these colleges. Bronze team members earned a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49.
More than 90 athletes were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals by deans of the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Nursing and Allied Health and University College.
Also, any conference and national awards, including the Southland Conference Honor Roll and Academic All-Conference teams, were honored.
