Central Catholic High School’s graduating class will be led by Alexandria Elizabeth Medine, valedictorian, and Paige Elizabeth Johnson, salutatorian. Commencement exercises will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Morgan City.

Medine is the daughter of Robin Forester Medine and the late Claude Medine.

She was a member of the Key and SADD clubs as well as the yearbook staff and quiz bowl team. She was a member of the Student Council, serving her class as president during her freshman and sophomore years. Medine was a member of CCHS’ Big Brother/Big Sister program and Retreat Team.

Medine also was a two-year member of the National Honor Society and represented CCHS at the literary rally at Nicholls State University for three years and at the state level twice.

Medine also was a four-year member of the Drama Club, and was selected as a member of the all-star cast for two years at the drama rally at NSU. She earned the best supporting actress at the drama rally in 2011.

She was a member of the Eaglette dance team for five years, serving the squad as co-captain last year and captain this year.

She attended Louisiana Girls State at Northwestern State University and recently was selected as a Shining Star.

Medine is the recipient of one of the American Petroleum Institute and the Chamber of Commerce scholarships. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in natural resources ecology and management concentrating in pre-veterinary medicine.

Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Johnson, has maintained principal’s list all four years of high school. She is a four-year member of the SADD Club, three-year member of the Key Club and a two-year member of the yearbook staff. Johnson currently is co-editor of the yearbook.

On the state level, Johnson served on the Youth Advisory Council for Louisiana Youth Prevention Services for two consecutive years.

She was a member of student council for four years as well as 2011-12 Executive Student Council president.

Additionally, Johnson participated in CCHS’ Big Brother/Big Sister Program for two years, and she was a member of the Retreat Team and the Advisor/Advisee Program.

Johnson represented CCHS at the literary rally at NSU for three years and qualified for state literary rally once. She was also a two-year member of National Honor Society and a four-year member of the varsity cheerleading squad. Johnson was captain of the varsity cheerleading squad this year and was selected as an All-American cheerleader for two years during varsity cheerleading camp.

Athletically, Johnson has lettered in softball, cross country and track. She earned numerous merits in these sports including as a member of the state runner-up 4x100 meter relay team, district runner-up and a regional qualifier in the 100-meter dash, and as the district champ and a state qualifier in the 4x100 meter relay.

Johnson was awarded the Wendy’s Heisman and the Daughters of American Revolution Good Citizen’s Award.

She was the 2011 CCHS homecoming queen and was selected as a Shining Star.

Johnson was awarded the Ronald J. Roussel Memorial scholarship by the American Petroleum Institute. Upon graduation, she plans to attend NSU and major in communicative disorders.
