LONG BRIDGE —The driver of a car that went off the road into the Vermilion River avoided drowning but didn’t avoid traffic citations.

The driver and sole occupant, Kenneth Carmouche of Breaux Bridge, was not in it.

According to State Police, Carmouche ran off into the river early on Monday, June 4.

He escaped unharmed but failed to report the incident to authorities until much later, earning himself a citation for failure to report the crash and careless operation.
