Morgan City High School-based Skipper’s Sporting Goods split its games during action at Southland Field in Houma Saturday.
On Saturday morning, the squad routed Covenant Christian-based Trinity Tools, 14-4, in six innings, but Saturday afternoon, the squad fell to E.D. White-based Synergy Bank, 14-3.
The Synergy Bank game originally was to be played on Friday in Morgan City but was moved to Saturday due to heavy rain Friday in the Morgan City area.
Another heavy downpour this morning prompted Skipper’s to cancel its game today against Thibodaux High-based Reeco Rental. No makeup information has been announced.
Against Covenant Christian, Skipper’s Brennan Ashley led the way with a 3-for-3 performance as he was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. He added four RBIs. Other Skipper’s hitters included Ryan Veillion, 2-for-3, two runs and two RBI; Nick Spinella, 2-for-4, two runs and an RBI; Chandler Delaune, 1-for-3, an RBI and two runs; Taylor Brocato, 1-for-2, a run and an RBI; Dylan Hymel, 1-for-2, a double and three runs; and Josh Glatter, 1-for-2 with a run.
Glatter also earned the win for Skipper’s.
Against Synergy Bank, Veillion finished 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Ashley was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Hymel was 1-for-3 with a double and a run, and Buck Gautreaux was 1-for-3 with a run.
Patterson, Taco Bell (Berwick) and Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic) all have cancelled their games for today, too. Patterson, who was scheduled to play at Robichaux Ford (Vandebilt Catholic), now will play them on Tuesday on the road with just a varsity game set for 11 a.m. Taco Bell, who was set to host South Louisiana Bank (South Terrebonne) today, now will host them Wednesday, with junior varsity beginning at 5 p.m. and varsity following at 7 p.m. No date for Halimar's rainout today against Synergy Bank has been announced, but Halimar will play Robichaux Ford on Wednesday on the road with just a varsity game scheduled for 5 p.m.
