Former St. Mary Parish school superintendent Ronald Perry passed away this morning at the age of 84.

He served from Sept. 10, 1987, to Sept. 9, 1990, after coming to this parish from service in Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the same capacity.

Previous work experience included:

—1950 to 1962 Scranton School District in Pennsylvania (Teacher).

—1962 to 1965 Hampton City Public Schools in Virginia (Principal).

—1965 to 1969 Line Mountain Schools in Pennsylvania (Superintendent).

—1969 to 1972 Prince Edward Community Schools in Virginia (Superintendent).

—1972 to 1978 Pascack Valley Schools in New Jersey (Superintendent).

—1978 to 1986 Cameron County School in Pennsylvania (Superintendent).

Perry served as a member of the graduate faculty for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette after leaving the St. Mary Parish School System.

He was retired in Morgan City, where he passed away this morning at Teche Regional Medical Center. Services are pending at Hargrave Funeral Home.
