Chief Sabria McGuire reported that Trey La’Pierre Rouchon, 17, of Chatsworth Road, was charged with warrants for simple arson and two counts of aggravated battery.
He was additionally charged with simple arson and aggravated arson.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies and the Franklin Fire Department assisted in the arrest.
Rouchon was charged in alleged fires in a trailer park in Franklin early in the mornings of June 17, 18 and 19.
No injuries were reported and no bond was set on Rouchon.
Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeois said the department responded to two suspicious fires at a mobile home park on Blakesley Street.
The first was on June 17 when neighbors noticed a fire at Lot 26 in the park and warned the resident, who escaped without injury. The fire department quickly extinguished the fire.
The next morning, around 2:45 a.m., a neighbor spotted a fire at Lot 41 and called 911. That fire was also extinguished.
Bourgeois said both fires seemed suspicious and the area was placed under surveillance. The following morning. Rouchon was allegedly seen setting fire to a trailer on Lot 27.
Residents of the park were helpful in the investigation, Bourgeois said.
