The Swampland baseball league playoffs would have been set and include one local team and another that would have made the field elected not to play.
Taco Bell (Berwick) made the cut as the No. 3 seed, while Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic) decided not to participate in postseason play and Patterson was eliminated from postseason contention with a loss on Sunday to Bayou Boys (South Lafourche).
No. 3 seed Taco Bell will begin tournament play today at 5 p.m. against No. 6 Reeco Rentals, while South Louisiana Bank (South Terrebonne), the No. 5 seed, will play at 7 p.m. against Jester’s Court (Central Lafourche), the No. 4 seed.
The top seeds, No. 1 Synergy Bank (E.D. White) and No. 2 Robichaux Ford ( Vandebilt Catholic), both received first-round byes and will not play until Tuesday.
The winner of the Taco Bell/ Reeco Rentals matchup will face Robichaux Ford on Tuesday at 5 p.m., while the winner of the Jester’s Court/South Louisiana Bank game will take on Synergy Bank Tuesday at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, the two semifinal winners will play for the Swampland League championship at 5 p.m.
This past weekend, multiple Swampland League makeup games were held.
On Sunday, Patterson dropped a 3-0 decision to Bayou Boys (South Lafourche).
Bayou Boys scored single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings in the victory.
Spencer Landry led Patterson with a single.
Patterson finished the Swampland season with a 6-7 record.
Earlier in the weekend on Friday, Skipper’s Sporting Goods dropped a doubleheader at home.
Reeco Rentals defeated Skipper’s, 9-8 in eight innings in the first game, and H.L. Bourgeois defeated the Morgan City High School-based squad 10-5 in the second game.
While Halimar Shipyard was scheduled to play an 11 a.m. matchup with Synergy Bank, Halimar coach Tyler Jensen said Halimar elected not to play the game because they were not participating in the playoffs, anyway.
