An explosion and fire occurred about 6 p.m. at the Joseph Cefalu Steam Plant in Morgan City, leaving its entire service area without power. As of this morning, Louisiana Energy and Power Authority teams were working with city crews to assess damage. Estimates are that power won’t be restored until late this afternoon or tonight, and even at that time the city will be testing circuits with minimal load. Both the Banner-Tribune and The Daily Review in Morgan City will be printed off-site and delivery times will be later than usual.
