Five-car accident snarls BV traffic

A five-car accident in the west lane of U.S. 90 at the intersection of Anthony Street near Fairview Cinema snarled traffic for commuters around 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to State Police Troop I Public Information Officer Stephen Hammons, the incident resulted in minor injuries to the driver in the third vehicle with occupants of the other vehicles unharmed.

According to LSP, the first car involved was a 2009 Ford F250 driven by Pat Viator, 65, of New Iberia. He was cited for careless operation.

The second vehicle was a 2009 Volvo XC9 driven by Gay Van Etten, 47, of Youngsville. She was cited for following too close.

The third car involved was a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Anjanike Williams, 24, of Franklin. She was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries then cited for following too close.

The fourth vehicle was a 2000 Ford F150 driven by Paul Boudreaux, 42, of Jeanerette. He was cited for following too close.

The final vehicle involved was a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jerry Guillot, 62, of St. Martinville. He suffered no injuries and was not cited in the accident.

Hammons said he was unsure of the cause of the accident as of press time.
